Not surprisingly, California's government still can't get a handle on its spending and is still considering expanding the sales tax to include services, and many other goods previously exempt. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is threatening to close down the government on July 1, 2009 if the state's legislature doesn't propose a new budget that significantly cut's spending instead of increasing fees and taxes on a multitude of items and services. The governor has also reiterated his support for a constitutional convention to overhaul state government.
